A Pipe for Twitturly

I've been thinking about the social life of URLs today, and in particular about people commenting on Twitter about URLs, so that I can add these comments into the mix along with delicious comments and blogs comments about a URL (see for example the deliURL pipe - http://pipes.yahoo.com/ouseful/deliurl). There are a couple of sites that appear to be indexing URLs that appear on Twitter (TwitterBuzz and Twitturly), but neither of them offer an API (yet?!)... so here's a piped API for Twitturly that will take a URL, and give a feed back of people who've posted a tweet containing that URL.

First we need to build the URL for the Titturly comments pages for a particular URL. To do this, we call on the MD5 hashing service that I've used before (Pivotal Moments... (pivotwitter?!)) to encode the URL, then construct the twitturly URL in the regular expression block:

twitturly url builder

We then need to pass this URL to anotehr pipe that will scrape the twitturly comments page and generate a feed of the comments:

twitturly get feed

Here's the Twitturly RSS pipe that scrapes the Twitturly page for an encoded URL and produces and RSS feed for it:

Twitturly rss

You can find the full pipe at http://pipes.yahoo.com/ouseful/twitturly - just give it a URL and it will pull back any twittered comments about that URL from Twitturly...
